Tuesday, 3 November '09: The Union Buildings in a purple frame

It's November and the jacarandas are still a treat. The Union Buildings, seat of the administrative government in South Africa, in Arcadia are framed by purple.

From Waterkloof hills the suburbs have a purple haze.

I get sidetracked when driving down streets under a purple canopy.

    Here the trees are bare and the rain is pouring down. The snow tyres are on the car and we're hunkering down for winter!

    I remember buying presents outside the Union Buildings with the jacaranda in full bloom! That was exactly six years ago today...

    The purple is perfect to raise my spirits now that fall is in full swing here. We had blowing sleet yesterday and today it's warm and sunny.

    The jacaranda trees are just gorgeous. I saw some in Southern California one year and wondered what they were. Now I know and love them. Seeing your pictures reminds me of how pretty they are.
