And that reminded me of another poem! The sestet from Gerald Manley Hopkins' sonnet: God's Grandeur.
And for all this, nature is never spent;
There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs-
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.

Beautiful sky photo. Love the colors peeking in the background. Happy SWF.
Eleanor, let me first say that I really enjoyed you hoping by my blog.
I lived in Pretoria, indeed, but had no time to run a business.
My Dad was in the construction business, but I was a kid and had to go to school.
When we moved from Pietersburg to Pretoria we lived for some time at Eaton Hall Hotel and then moved to Hercules.
I went to school there and I heard from someone that they have closed the Hercules School.
Do you know anything about it?
I still haven't got the chance to go back, but South Africa is still in my heart.
Saw the Springboks in France becoming World Champions and that was a thrill!
Great photo for SWF.
Hi Eleanor, I'm back and have missed reading your posts and viewing the lovely pics.
Catching up quickly - glad Springtime is bringing enjoyable days there.
Hugs - Mary.
Wat een mooi gedicht. En het begin van een gloed in de duisternis op de foto is schitterend.
Dank voor bezoek en reactie op mijn blog! Wij kunnen elkaars taal lezen, heerlijk is dat.
This Hopkins poem is so beautiful. I've not read this one, so had to read it aloud. I love the line "last lights off the black West went".
Happy weekend, Eleanor! :)
Beautiful end to the day.

Lovely sunset and your header photo is just amazing!
What a lovely photo, and what an incredibly beautiful poem. THe words conjure up all the loving beauty of our creator and His creation!
Your thatched house sounds really interesting. I live in a floating cabin in British Columbia. I invite you to come meet Mr. Boo for a Halloween wish. - Margy
Een mooie zonsondergang.
Isn't sunset the most inspiring time of day? I don't often rise early enough to see the sun come up, but I always try to take a moment to watch it set,just a moment for reflection. It helps calm my spirit.
wow is all i can say...
Beautiful photo and great poem. For years I enjoyed GM Hopkins poetry so much I wanted to do graduate work and a dissertation on his poetry.
well captured! and that's a beautiful poem to go along! :)
Hi Eleanor, I am catching up on all my visiting, as I have been very busy. Nice shot. I also love your header - you just cannot beat Pretoria's jacarandas
