Friday, 17 October: A moonlit Skywatch

A full moon glows through the clouds over my back garden. And a poem for all Skywatchers and other friends.

Silver

Slowly, silently, now the moon
Walks the night in her silver shoon;
This way and that she peers and sees
Silver fruit upon silver trees;
One by one the casements catch
Her beams beneath the silvery thatch;
Couched in his kennel, like a log,
With paws of silver sleeps the dog;
From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep
Of doves in a silver-feathered sleep;
A harvest mouse goes scampering by,
With silver claws and silver eye;
And moveless fish in the water gleam,
By silver reeds in a silver stream.

Hi Eleanor

First off, thanks for stopping by and commenting on my SWF. Your header photo is absolutely stunning. Walking down that avenue would lift any day! (-: Lots of people were taking advantage of that lovely moon I think!
All the best

Very nice photo, lots of atmosphere.

Your blog header is absolutely beautiful. What I wouldn't give to have a few of those trees in my yard.

That is one of my favourite poems from childhood but I couldn't remember all the words or who wrote it. I was happy to see it again, and it is well-matched with the photo. Great post!
