7 November, '08: Grey skies & summer rains

Leaden skies in Pretoria.
A spectacular electric storm hit in the early morning hours. Dogs and I were soaked to the skin, or shall I say the fur, on the last lap of our early morning walk. Pretoria lies 1330 m above sea level and the high altitude ensures a wonderful year round climate. Between November and February summer thunderstorms produce flashes of lightening, rolling thunder and torrential downpours. We love the summer rain!

Take care! The paths to the gates are slippery.

De regen zorgt er voor dat alles groen is. Ik wist niet dat dit zo was in Pretoria, ik denk aan Afrika enkel aan droge rode grond en woestijnen, fout dus!

That "bedraggled Thatchwick" took me back to "Out of Africa". (I really need to watch that again).

It's been lovely weather here, but we're in for a change as of today and I think then Winter will begin to set in.

Have a lovely weekend!

Fun post of a rainy day. I want to say I love your header, probably because I love jacaranda trees. They're messy but beautiful.

HI, Eleanor! That rain-spotted lily is lovely...It's been miserable weather here in Norway, this past weekend we had such stormy days....Some damage to our roof from gale-force winds :o( But all is well, and it could have been worse, so we were lucky! Hope all is well there...Happy Days ((HUGS))

Hi Eleanor, I remember those Pretoria thunderstorms from my childhood days very vividly. It was often like buckets of rain being poured from the sky - there was never any doubt that you would be drenched in seconds.

I love the rain, sounds simply delightful! And your cottage looks wonderful covered in rain. Wish I was there.

It was so nice to have a visit from you. Please do let me know of Alexandra's new blog. I miss her so. Thank you ever so kindly.
