7 January, '09: Back to work
Suddenly it is 7 January and (Oh, panic, panic!) I haven't managed a blog. On Monday I went back to work. The lines have been humming ever since. I have seen students, submitted an abstract for an international conference, checked chapters of theses and collected draft chapters for a new book which I am editing. But fortunately, I work from home and only visit the campus once or twice a week. In such balmy summer weather I have moved my laptop from the study onto the table on the verandah. I challenge anyone to equal such an idllyic workplace.
However, today I was on campus and stopped by the main hall to take a quick pic of the Van Wijk Building with the inspiring banner calling students to change the world through education.
Here is a close up with the Great Man, our own Nelson Mandela, role model of endurance and of reconciliation.

Love the inspiring picture!
How wonderful to sit on the verandah to work. I'm at my computer (indoors) wearing a huge chunky sweater which comes down to my knees and I'm still cold. However, it's knitted in bright green wool, which makes me think of the forthcoming spring!
Thank you so much for this wonderful and unique photos!
Good luck, dear Eleanor!
Dear Eleanor, if you can, please put Translator on your beautiful blogsite.
Beautiful man on a beautiful building!
What an impressive building!
I can't possibly imagine a more idyllic workspace than the one you possess!
I read somewhere that they call Mandela "Madiba" to honour him. What a stately name. It's hard to believe he's 90.

I've always read the most wonderful things about Nelson Mandela. A role model of reconcilliation is right. :-) Nice building, too!
XO,
Sheila
Nelson Mandela is truly a great man and my hope is that his influence and legacy will continue for a long time.
How nice to sit outside to do your work. Do you stay awake or do the quiet breezes lull you to sleep? If it were me, I would probably be drifting off with a finger sitting on some key on the laptop.
It all starts for me tomorrow. I am excited but also somehow hesitant! I can still feel the sand between my toes.
I am very excited to share my exciting news with you... my first ever abstarct was accepted for an international conference. It was a great christmas present!
I am privileged to share similar work conditions to you. It is bliss!
