Friday, 9 December: Painters, alert! African skies at dawn

I popped the camera into one pocket and the dogs' ball into another before leaving for my walk at 4.45am this morning. These shell-pink and pale turquoise skies on the corner of Marais and Roper Streets are an invitation to be painted. And the dogs' had fun with the ball.

Chasing an extra-bouncy rubber ball was warm work.

Have a good day watching skies with Skywatch.

Gorgeous puffs of pink sailing along in the sky! But I see your dogs are far more interested in the fun of a bouncy ball! They look so handsome!

That would indeed be a lovely sky to paint, Eleanor! On a nice heavy watercolour paper, watching the colours merge into the wash ... especially on a warm morning. If I tried here at that time the glorious starry constellations would be above me, and icicles would form on my paintbrush!

Oh how I've often wished I could paint the beautiful skies at sunrise/sunset.

Those dogs are lucky to have someone to play with them so EARLY.

Hello Eleanor,
A very prosperous and healthy new year for you. What a beautiful sky again. Is Gal wearing pink nowadays? :-)))
Greetings from very cold Netherlands.

Happy and tired dogs who have been ball chasing are always a welcome sight.

As beautiful as that sky is, Eleanor, I think what is much more beautiful are those two dogs! They are wonderful, and I'm sure they are equally wonderful friends.

Hallo my dear Friend! Today is a "snow day" again in New York and the kids are playing outside in their snow suits. With a rare quiet moment, Anneke was able to look up your blog - what a lovely surprise! IT IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! Miss you very much. Deo volente I'll be back on the 25th. Fish on the 27th? Its wonderful here (no crime at all in Pleasantville!) and to be with my family - we're having many good times. I'm looking forward to seeing all my SA friends again. Lots of love, also from Anneke & family, Leone x0x0x0x0x0x
