Thursday, 30 July 2009: East, west; Home is best

At last I have come 'home' after a lengthy blog journey. Thank you to all who accompanied me.

Now I can turn my attention to the familiar and loved. Catherine made me Martha Stewart's three layer chocolate cake for my birthday tea.
A winter garden provided its last blossoms to brighten the table.
My basil, tomato and mozarella tart.
I enjoyed myself thoroughly.

So did everyone else.

Wonderful homecoming/birthday party! That cake looks like only Martha could have made it. I wish you a Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday, Eleanor! It looks like you had a marvellous time! The cake looks good enough to eat (as my mother would say).

Happy birthday!! Lovely elegant tea and that cake looks ... oooh yumm!! We always used to have lovely elegant teas like that when we were growing up and I tried to maintain the tradition when my children were growing up but as they become teenages .. tea in mugs become the norm!!!!
I have thoroughly enjoyed travelling with you - and maybe you are right - armchair travel is ... OK!! The only problem with sitting in front of the computer one tends to sit too long and the hips start expanding !!

What a lovely birthday tea party. That cake looks scrumptous. It's been wonderful following your journeys, but I can understand how nice it is to be home.
Happy Birthday!

Belated happy birthday dear Eleanor - bet that cake was yummy!!

I'm in Boise, Idaho tonight, still 90 degrees as we dined on fresh salmon from a nearby river at a sidewalk cafe in a cheery downtown area. Will be heading backing to North Carolina from Salt Lake City on Thursday. If you have time to check 'Across The Pond' you will see all the wonderful places we've visited in the West on this trip.
