It's verandah days at Thatchwick Cottage. So wander up the path and admire the clivias.
Take a seat on the verandah and I will bring you a drink. Iced camomile tea laced with berry juice?
Galahad is happy warmer days are here again.
I love my out-of-Africa
stoep as it is known in Afrikaans. This long tiled verandah under the thatch overhang becomes an extension of the house in the long summer months. And it is the best place to watch a summer thunderstorm.

Eleanor, your veranda is a lovely spot to enjoy the beauty of your garden. Love the tiled floor. Know you will be spending a lot of time there now the fine weather has arrived. Meanwhile, we are cooling off a bit here - had our first really heavy rain in some time yesterday - the garden is green again this morning and Autumn is in the air!
I just love your garden and your thatched roof! Are thatched cottages normal where you live?
You have such a beautiful garden! My clivias are JUST starting to bud! So are my Bankshire roses - those are my best!! I agree with Galahad - yippee for summer!
Hoe beautiful! Where I live clivias are exotic house plants -- lovely to see them in profusion. And your stoep is most inviting. (I wonder if that word in Dutch is the origin of our stoop, used in the NE of the US for the small front porch of a townhouse.)
May I have a second glass of tea please Eleanor? I would so love to sit on your verandah, scratching Galahad behind the ears and chatting away the day while absorbing your beautiful space. Have a lovely day!
What a beautiful garden you have, Eleanor! It looks so serene and peaceful, with such interesting planting. Wish I could join you for tea on the verandah!
Isn't it cool how our pooches just love a good roll in the lawn? I wish I could get away with that!! Love your blog, and your home is lovely!
Cheers!
This is a wonderful place to spend time Eleanor. These days I am outside at 4-5am with my coffee watching the stars and seeing the sky slowly get lighter. I love the summer.
Oh Eleanor, your place is a dream. An Out of Africa stoop, (Queens New York translation (I don't speak Afrikaans). But I love to hear it being spoken. What a gorgeous home you have. So nice to read your post.

What a lovely place to sit and enjoy a soft breeze, along with your beautiful view.
Your place does have a very Out of Africa flavor, Eleanor...Your home is love beautiful and inviting. I would love to walk up that path and meet you and sweet Galahad! Happy weekend :o)
Sitting on your veranda, with a cup of coffee, a good book and glance often at your garden would be the ultimate dream vacation for me!!
Love, Carol
I would love walking in your garden now that summer is on its way to you.
Our autumn hasn't set in yet with freezing overnight temperatures, but its coming. I'm off for a brief afternoon walk to enjoy the sun.
Hi Eleanor
Your Garden and Clivias are so beautiful!!
Spring is here!!! Happy gardening.
Love Muriel
