Now the problem with a dog lover is that you can't take those cute photos for your blog with kitty sleeping amidst your satin cushions. As you can see, Galahad is most willing to pose amongst the cushions on my sunroom sofa but ...! Those wet brown eyes are telling you that I am a real spoilsport. Fortunately Tristram is not interested in beds, sofas or cushions. He feels a love of luxury is un-knightly. After all he has a reputation to keep up as Sir Tristram the Brave. Beside Gal is also an avid swimmer who likes a good roll among the aspidistras after a dip in the pool. And as Ogden Nash said
The truth I do not stretch or shove
When I state the dog is full of love
I've also proved by actual test
A wet dog is the lovingest.

Hello again, My Friday Feb 8 post is about a couple carvings from South Africa which I received as a gift. Do you know what type of wood this might be?

Hi Eleanor! I really enjoyed reading your recent comment which in turn gave me the opportunity to come visit you. I'm glad to meet you and view your amazing thatched cottage home - it's just gorgeous. Being English and growing up in Devon, thatched cottages are everywhere, but I had no idea they were constructed in SA also. Are they seen a lot? Do you have to import British thatchers - who are, unfortunately, a dying breed? How old is your lovely cottage? Sorry, so many questions, but I'm really interested.
Your gardens are beautiful, and those pals Galahad and Tristram look like they keep you safe and are great company. I'm so sorry you lost your husband. You will find a lot of new friends via your blog and, although we can't be there in person, we can always come up with a laugh, a helpful hint, or a shoulder to cry on if it's a bad day! Plus all this cottage decorating - yes, we all make paint color mistakes - art and crafts, gardening, great recipes and of course family facts if one has the desire to share.
Welcome to blogland - get ready for the crazy, fun ride.
Hope you will visit me again.
Wishing you a great week.
Hugs - Mary (ACROSS THE POND)
Oh, he is just one to love on, isn't he?
